Scanning
Want to turn your film into digital files?
Whether you need state-of-the-art high-resolution film scanning on our Hasselblad Flextight X5 scanner, you want to bulk scan that box of slides you found in the back of a closet, or something in between, we have the capabilities to fit your needs and budget.
We can also make high-quality flat bed scans of your prints up to A3.
If you need us to copy your larger photos and artworks, we use a Hasselblad digital camera in our shooting studio.

Frontier Scans
The Frontier scanner, our most cost-effective option, is designed to scan negatives, but can also scan transparencies. The transparencies are good, but not great in the highlight and shadow detail. For a better scan, use the Sigma system.
We can use the Frontier to scan from 135mm and 120 film.
Frontier scans are direct output. We air blow the film before we scan, but all post production and corrections will be up to you.
Files are 8 bit, Untagged RGB, 72ppi, jpg format. They will need to be converted to 300ppi to print.

Sigma Scans
The Sigma scanner is designed to scan transparencies, but can also scan negatives.
With negatives, the scans require some post production to get as good a colour result as the Frontier, but can scan to a larger file size. The Sigma is great for digitising archives and making printable files up to A1, but not to an exhibition standard.
The Sigma can scan from 135mm, 120 and 5x4-inch transparencies or negatives.
Sigma scans are direct output. We air blow the film before we scan, but all post production and corrections will be up to you.
For an additional charge, we can colour correct and spot.
Files are 8 bit, Adobe RGB (1998), 300ppi format. Supplied as either tif or jpg file.
Hasselblad Flextight X5 Scans
The Hasselblad Flextight X5 Scanner is world renowned for quality. It scans film while under tension, similar to a drum scanner, but without the oil mounting.
This scanner achieves super-sharp, exhibition-quality images from 135mm, 6x45, 6x6, 6x7, 6x9 and 5x4-inch negatives and transparencies. We also have a custom-made full-frame 135mm film holder. Scans are fully spotted and colour corrected to your specifications.
These are print ready files that might require some minor adjustments to your taste, or you can give them directly to our fine art printers to make your prints without having to do any corrections yourself.
Files are 16 bit Adobe RGB (1998), 300ppi format. Supplied as tif file and low resolution jpg file.

Hasselblad Studio Image Capture
Our Hasselblad medium format digital camera sets the global standard for quality.
Under studio lighting, we have photographed artworks over 1.5m x 2.5m in size. Images are corrected to match the original with an inkjet proof provided for each artwork to verify colour & tonal accuracy and quality.
We can shoot artwork with a frame and under glass, or we can shoot loose pieces in our vacuum press, up to 105x80cm.
Files are 16 bit Adobe RGB (1998), 300dpi format. Supplied as tif file and low resolution jpg file.
